Von Aisha wird berichtet, dass der Prophet Muhammad (s) sagte: „Dschibril legte mir immer wieder den Nachbarn ans Herz, bis ich dachte, er würde ihm einen Anteil am Erbe zuschreiben." (Bukhari) Es ist ebenfalls überliefert worden, dass ein Jude, der den Propheten (s) versuchte zu nötigen, eines Tages krank wurde und der Gesandte Allahs (s) besuchte ihn. (Tradiert von Anas ibn Malik) Die Offenheit, die während der Verbreitung des Islams den Anhängern anderer Religionen gegenüber an den Tag gelegt wurde, ging in die Geschichte als ein Musterbeispiel fürToleranz und Gerechtigkeit ein. So sagt Allah, der Erhabene im Quran: ﴿ وَلَا تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلا بِالتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلا الذِينَ ظَلَمُ وا مِنْهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنا بِالذِي أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلهَنَُا وَإِلهَكُُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ ﴾ "Und streitet nicht mit dem Volk der Schrift, es sei denn auf beste Art und Weise, auser mit jenen von ihnen, die unrecht handeln. Und sprecht: "Wir glauben an das, was zu uns herabgesandt wurde und was zu euch herabgesandt wurde. Unser Gott und euer Gott ist ein und derselbe. Und Ihm sind wir ergeben." (Al-Ankabut, 46) Thomas W.
