Lavrov asks West to stop biased accusations against Syria
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called on the West to refrain from their one-sided accusations against Damascus government which has been struggling to save the country from a multinational foreign-charged war for nearly three years.
"Our Western partners in the Security Council ... proposed that we cooperate in working out a resolution. The ideas they shared with us were absolutely one-sided and detached from reality," the Interfax news agency quoted Lavrov as saying after talks with Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra on Tuesday.
He said a draft UN resolution on aid access in Syria was "detached from reality" and Russia would be ready to consider a draft only if it was "not about one-sided accusations aimed at the regime".
Australia, Luxembourg and Jordan last week presented their draft resolution to the Security Council which called for putting more sanctions against Syria. Moscow swiftly rebuked the proposal because it would add up to the pressure over Syrian people who have been suffering from an extremist-marked war in their country.
Lavrov also called upon the Security Council to agree a resolution condemning terrorist activity in Syria.
Nature of the Syria war soon turned to an extremist-marked violence, after pro-reform protests were seized by al-Qaeda-linked and radical groups with interventions from foreign countries such as Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
Syria has asked the UN Security Council to act against terrorist groups operating inside Syria with foreign support, but its attempts have been blocked by US and its allies which support the insurgency to change the Syrian government.

Hezbollah: Iran's revolution changed the Islamic World
Hezbollah resistance movement says Iran's Islamic revolution has opened the way for a more righteous world, closer to what was meant by prophets and reformists for bringing it to justice.
The group issued a statement on the occasion of 35th anniversary of Iran's 1979 revolution, saying that, "Revolution anniversary is a stress on issues sought by the revolution, which are independence from reign of world powers, freedom in making decisions and implementing them without foreign interference, and setting up the Islamic republic system which is the point where God's realm and people's will meet to make the best way of governance".
"The Islamic revolution which has changed Iran's situation as well as the Islamic World, is the abstract of attempts made by generations who sacrificed themselves and used all they had in making their will and wishes come true for having their country's sovereignty in their own hands," the statement added.
"The Islamic revolution in Iran also paved the way for the Iranians to achieve scientific progress, social welfare as well as the huge industrial and agricultural capacity and allowed them to own the means of producing improved military equipment that enable the Islamic Republic to defend its borders against the enemies."
Hezbollah, which has been always guided and inspired by the Islamic revolution, congratulates the leadership and the people of Iran on the occasion and reiterates his trust in the fact that the revolution, whose flag was first raised by late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and then by the Islamic Republic Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei, will last and preserve its status as a representative of the right religious beliefs, according to the statement.
Millions of Iranians attended nationwide demonstrations in Iran on Tuesday to mark the 35th anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The day, the 22nd of the month of Bahman on the solar calendar, coincides with a definitive end to the rule of the monarchical Pahlavi regime and thus an end to the 2,500 years of monarchical rule in the country.
The Islamic Revolution, under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy.

US debates confronting ISIL after getting disbanded by al-Qaeda
Al-Qaeda's growing power in Syria has prompted US government to debate about the extent of the president's powers to use lethal force against terrorist organizations.
The Washington Post wrote in a report that the focus of internal discussions is whether a law giving the president authority to attack al-Qaeda affiliates still applies to the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL), the group that was recently disavowed by al-Qaeda leader.
Current and former US intelligence officials said last week's expulsion marked the first time al-Qaeda had ejected a group that had formally joined its fold, a potentially risky move at a time when the terrorist network's affiliates have largely eclipsed the core group in strength and relevance.
According to some administration lawyers and intelligence officials, the expulsion of ISIL removes the group from the short list of al-Qaeda "associates" that the president has virtually unlimited powers to strike under a law passed days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The Obama administration is debating to confront ISIL after it was disavowed while there are no talks of confronting al-Qaeda's main representative, al-Nusra Front, which is fighting at the side of US-backed Syrian opposition to topple the Syrian government.
ISIL emerged after al-Nusra Front as a ruthless player in the Syria war.
Western intelligence agencies says they are worried about ISIL getting more power, while the al-Nusra Front which has pledged alliance to al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri and is blacklisted by the US has already expanded its operations in Lebanon and Turkey.
According to the Post, officials who spoke about intelligence matters on the condition of anonymity stressed that the administration has not made any ruling on the subject.
What appears at first glance to be a legal debate over an arcane dispute among terrorists is largely theoretical, since the administration has no current intention of attacking in Syria or Iraq.
But the answer has major implications for a far more important issue — what to do about the post-Sept. 11 law authorizing the use of force as the Afghanistan war winds down and an increasingly decentralized al-Qaeda becomes more of a shared ideology than an organized hierarchy.
Beyond its implications for broader US counterterrorism operations, the expulsion of ISIS is being examined by analysts at the CIA and the National Counterterrorism Center for clues to al-Qaeda's evolving strategy amid the turmoil of the Middle East.
A US intelligence official asked: "Does it make al-Qaeda leadership look stronger or weaker" to eject an insubordinate but violently effective franchise? Will it help their recruitment efforts to side with al-Nusra Front?"
US officials said the split is unlikely to harm the operational capabilities of ISIL, which has never depended on its al-Qaeda sponsor for funding or other material support. The officials, noting long-standing frictions between Ayman al-Zawahiri and ISIL's upper ranks, said there is no doubt the ban was real and not a ruse.
Current and former officials noted that Zawahiri did not cite ISIL's brutality in the decision to sever ties with the group but instead focused on its battles with Jabhat al-Nusra and insubordination. Officials also said the move underscores the importance that Zawahiri attaches to Syria — over maintaining ties with a wayward but viable franchise in Iraq.
"Syria is an opportunity for them" above all others, said a former senior US intelligence official. "They truly believe that if they don't get in there and do the best they can, they're nothing anymore."

Obama says US will punish foreign firms violating Iran sanctions
President Barack Obama warns that the United States will come down "like a ton of bricks" on foreign firms seeking to expand business with Iran, stressing the need to enforce existing sanctions against Tehran.
The US president made the remarks during a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Francois Hollande, at the White House on Tuesday.
"President Hollande and I agree on the need to continue enforcing existing sanctions even as we believe that new sanctions during these negotiations would endanger the possibility of a diplomatic solution," Obama said.
The warning comes a week after a French delegation of more than 100 representatives from major companies like Total, Lafarge and Peugeot visited Tehran to study investment opportunities.
Senior Obama administration officials have conceded that foreign companies are competing to be "first in line" to do business with Iran once sanctions are loosened.
Major world powers reached an interim agreement with Iran on Nov. 24 to offer Tehran modest sanctions relief in return for Iran taking steps to limit its uranium enrichment activities. The deal called for negotiation of a full agreement on Iran's nuclear energy program within a year.
"Businesses may be exploring, 'Are there some possibilities to get in sooner rather than later if and when there is an actual agreement to be had?'," Obama said, standing alongside Hollande.
He issued a stern warning to those businesses. "But I can tell you that they do so at their own peril right now. Because we will come down on them like a ton of bricks."
Hollande said he does not control French companies but stressed that sanctions on Iran would not be dismantled until a final agreement has been negotiated.
"So companies just make their decisions when it comes to traveling, but I certainly let them know that sanctions were in force and would remain in force," he said.
Last week the US targeted a host of businesses across Europe and the Middle East, accusing them of evading sanctions against Iran, the second time the Obama administration penalized companies since the interim nuclear deal was signed.

UN condemns reported massacre in Syrian village
United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has condemned a new reported massacre of Syrian civilians in a village in the province of Hama.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said in a statement issued on Tuesday that Ban was deeply disturbed by media reports of killings in Maan on February 9.
"Dozens of civilians are said to have been brutally killed," the statement said.
"The secretary general condemns in the strongest terms all violence against civilians and calls for the perpetrators of this massacre, and all other crimes in Syria, to be brought to justice," it added.
On Sunday, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which relies on a network of spies working for the foreign-backed opposition, said the militants killed 25 pro-government fighters in the village.
However, Syrian state news agency SANA said the victims included 42 women, children and elderly people and accused the extremists of committing the massacre.
"This massacre isn't the first," Social Affairs Minister Kinda al-Shamat said on Sunday, adding that similar attacks had occurred during the nearly three-year unrest.
She criticized the silence of international organizations over the killings.
"We feel the insistence of the international community… to divert attention to areas which are not suffering to the same extent as these regions," Shamat added.
"Unfortunately we don't hear condemnation from any international organization of these massacres taking place in these villages," she said.
Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies -- especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey -- are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
According to the United Nations, more than 100,000 people have been killed and millions displaced due to the violence.

After so much suffering and heartache whilst I was in Syria I took the own ness upon myself to take care of a whole refugee camp that hadn't had food/medicine/blankets/money since it was set up 3 months ago. After consultation with the charity we decided we would provide monthly for the WHOLE refugee camp! ALL the financial needs and food needs will be met by ourselves as well as purchasing new tents and toilet facilities as well as shower facilities and a Masjid too! So here i present to you..... Camp Al Fatiha/Aid4Syria ♥
