Man sagte: "Wenn jemand bei ihm vorsprechen kann, dann Usama ibn Zaid (radiAllahu 'anh), der Liebling des Propheten (salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam)." So trug Usama ihm den Fall vor. Da sprach der Gesandte Allahs (salAllahu 'alayhi wa sallam): „Du legst Fürsprache ein in einem Fall, dessen Bestrafung von Allah, dem Erhabenen, vorgeschrieben wurde?!" Dann stand er auf und hielt folgende Ansprache: "Die Leute, die vor euch waren, wurden vernichtet, weil sie den Angesehenen von ihnen, wenn er gestohlen hatte, straffrei ausgehen ließen, aber an dem Schwachen, wenn er gestohlen hatte, das Gesetz vollzogen.
