In Ländern wie Sudan oder Äthiopien ist die Zahl der Analphabeten hoch u. viele Menschen (insbesondere auf dem Land) glauben, damit eine religiöse Pflcht zu erfüllen, was allerdings nicht der Fall ist. Das wird auch daran deutlich, dass die Frauenbeschneidung auch bei den dortigen Christen (u. früher auch häufig bei den christl. Kopten in Ägypten) praktiziert wird. Im Koran wird die Beschneidung von Frauen (wie auch diejenige von Männern) nicht erwähnt. In Sure 95, 4 heißt es: „Wahrlich, Wir haben den Menschen in bester Form erschaffen." Da es so ist, müsste auch nichts daran verändert werden. Am 22. und 23. November 2006 fand jedenfalls dazu eine internationale Konferenz von Islam-Gelehrten in der al-Azhar-Universität in Kairo statt. Die Gelehrten verkündeten, dass die Beschneidung weiblicher Genitalien nicht mit der Lehre des Islams zu vereinbaren sei: „Die Genitalbeschneidung bei Frauen ist eine ererbte Unsitte (…) ohne Grundlage im Koran respektive einer authentischen Überlieferung des Propheten (…) Daher müssen die Praktiken unterbunden werden in Anlehnung an einen der höchsten Werte des Islam, nämlich den Menschen unbegründet keinen Schaden zufügen zu dürfen (…) Vielmehr wird dies als strafbare Aggression gegenüber dem Menschengeschlecht erachtet. (…) Die Legislativ-Organe sind aufgefordert, diese grausame Unsitte als Verbrechen zu deklarieren." Ibni Kajimi në librin "Salat", ka dhënë një definicion, ku thotë: "Jo çdo kufër në të cilin bie muslimani, e nxjerr atë nga Islami". Albani thotë: "Ai (Ibni Kajjimi) ka thënë: "Kufri është dy llojesh: Kufër amelij (në vepër) dhe Kufër I`tikad (me mohim në bindje). Kufri me vepër është dy llojesh: "Kufër që e kundërshton besimin dhe kufër që nuk e kundërshton besimin. Kështu, rënia në sexhde para idhullit, shpërfillja e Kur`anit, vrasja e Pejgamberit dhe sharja e tij, këto vepra e kundërshtojnë besimin. Kurse gjykimi me ligj tjetër nga ai që ka zbritur Allahu dhe lënia e namazit janë prej kufrit në vepër, pa dyshim... Pejgamberi sal-lallahu alejhi ve sel-lem ia ka mohuar besimin atij që bën zina, atij që vjedh, atij që pi alkool dhe atij nga i cili nuk është i qetë fqinji i tij, e nëse ia mohon emërtimin e imanit, ai është kafir nga ana e punës, por mohohet prej tij kufri i bindjes. Albani thotë: "Por unë e shoh të arsyeshme që njerëzve si këta, të mos u thuhet Kafir, duke thënë: "Kush bën zina, ka bë kufër. Aq më pak, nuk lejohet të thuhet se ai është kafir, madje AS PËR LËNËSIN E NAMAZIT, d.m.th. atij nuk lejohet ti thuhet Kafir ...
