Oppression.... (should be read in'sha'Allah) My name is Sarah. I am 17. I am Muslim. I do not belong to any political groups. Today is the day I died -killed- to be precise. I was protesting today with the people in Rab'a el Adweya. I live there, a few streets next to it. I was fasting today. My mother did not want me to go today, she said it was too dangerous. But I promised I'd be home by 6 (even though deep down, I had doubts). I took my sister with me (she's 15) and we went together to Rab'a. I am not really a political person, but I do support the Muslim Brotherhood. I believe in justice and what happened to them was injustice. I know that the Muslim Brotherhood is not perfect and they have faults, but at least they don't kill people and go around lying about it. I know that the former president Morsi didn't even get a proper chance. I believe that we're in a time that liars are believed while the people who tell the truth are made to be liars. I know this is wholly a political matter but I am going there to also stand up for my religion because now religious people are considered to be terrorists. I can't even believe them. I mean if I walk in the street with niqab then I am a terrorist? What is this… When we reached Rab'a, we tried to offer help to the injured people as much as we could and I even got into a debate with my sister about politics. The army came shortly after we arrived and started firing bullets and throwing those tear bombs everywhere. They were hitting everybody in sight and started ordering people to leave. Some people where hesitant to leave. But most of us were running away from the bullets. We looked like chickens being chased by a fox. I felt like I wasn't human, like I was a monster being hunted down. I kept my sister as close as possible while we ran because the last thing I want to do is go searching frantically for her. We were heading towards home but the military blocked our way and we couldn't even explain to them that we just wanted to go home. They started shooting and throwing those tear bombs to get people to move faster and my sister got hit in the leg with one of those bullets. She screamed and fell to the floor. I ran back for her and tried to help her up and we were making a break for home when a bullet went straight to my stomach and I doubled up on the ground and told my sister to get help fast. I was loosing blood and consciousness. I could only think of one thing. My mother. What will she do? How will she react when she finds out? Would she ever forgive me? I felt so guilty for making my weak mother go through all this. I kept imagining her face when she finds out which only made my cry harder. I am dying. I am loosing consciousness and I feel like this is not real. Everything is starting to get distorted. My sister got help and they moved my to a place where they care for sick people but they don't really have anything because too many people are dying and there's not enough medicine. My sister got her leg healed (sort of) and came over to me. She kept saying things but I couldn't really comprehend what she was saying. I felt like I am in a dream and this world is fading and fading away. Reality was mixed with hallucinations and finally it was time. I went back to my creator, my god, Allah… Free from the military's oppression. Free from all the pain. I am free.... May Allah protect and free all oppressed people. Those whose land is occupied. Those whose homes are occupied. As well as those whose hearts, minds and souls are occupied. Ameen.

I'm contemplating the application of Schrödinger's Cat to theology and how it, and other quantum mechanical theories, could excuse even the most seemingly implausible theological concepts. If, eventually, theological concepts like the Trinity can be pardoned due to such quantum theories, it will behoove Muslims to rely upon the concrete social results of their religious tradition as opposed to other traditions --both religious and areligious. With the Catholics and their mammoth humanitarian efforts in developing nations and the Evangelists and their food (even if "for Bibles") programs, the Muslims better stop bickering amongst each other about theology and start working to make this world a better place. When your mockeries of the Trinity and Hindu polytheism get challenged by rebuttals that become more scientifically honed, all you'll be left with is whether you make this world a better place or not. In the Qur'an, God Himself commands us to never mock the objects of worship in other religious traditions. Is there an additional dimension to that in that rather than focusing on denigrating other religions we should focus on being shining examples of our own? In sum: The failure of religious polemics in general is that, irrespective of its validity, there is always a counter-point to any argument. Always. In the end people will stop listening to your debate and start looking more at how you behave and what you have to offer humanity.

How i came to Islam For all those who want to know how and why I converted to Islam, here's everything you need to know: On May 27th, 2011, I took my shahada, or my declaration of faith in Islam in front of our crowded masjid. However, I did not become a Muslim on that day. I have been Muslim my entire life, but was unaware of it. I have always believed in one God and Him alone. This thought is one of the most basic, but most important, pillars of the religion. The reason I never knew I was Muslim was because no one ever told me. I have a Muslim roommate, have met many Muslim people, but no one ever told me what Muslims believe in. All along I had believed in Islam, but had no idea that my faith was the same faith as millions of people around me. Finally, after years of trying to understand my beliefs, attending different religious services and only believing in parts of what I would hear, a close friend asked me what I believed in. We had been friends for a while and I never talked about religion with him. I explained my fundamental beliefs, that I believe in God, but not the trinity, and I believe in heaven and angels, but also noted that it did not fall under any one religion and I "didn't know what it was called". He told me that I had been wrong all this time and that all of my beliefs are consistent with his beliefs as a Muslim. At first I thought he was just trying to make Islam "look good". Explaining the most appealing parts of the faith. He would send me ayas (or "verses") from the Qur'an and I agreed with them, but I thought he was only picking and choosing the best lines that would make me more interested. The first one he sent me was Surah Ad Duha (with one ayah pictured below). The eleven verses that comprised this surah were the theme of my life. I went out and bought a Qur'an for myself to find things to point out to him that I did not agree with. I couldn't find one single thing. I agreed with every ayah. I easily understood why the literal translation of "ayah" is "miracle". Every verse is a miracle. As a matter of fact, everyword is a miracle. 58836_10151503251379459_2145763493_n It was a miracle in my own life that after searching for twenty years, after being confused, after thinking I would never find anyone else with my beliefs, I found Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) through His will. The best part was, however, that He had always been with me. I would stay up as late as possible reading Qur'an and crying knowing that I was reading the truth. I reflect on how beautiful it is that Allah (swt) gave all of the other Prophets the power to perform miracles for the people of their time to see, but he gave Prophet Muhammad (salla Allahu alayhi wa salaam) a miracle that I get to hold in my hands every day, the Qur'an. I knew I was Muslim and I knew I was so incredibly blessed that Allah (swt) wanted me, a twenty-year old college student, to come to Him. How could I be so lucky? And how could I do anything but seek all the knowledge and faith possible when I was chosen by Him to come to Islam? There is a hadith that says, "if you draw nearer to Allah by a handspan, He will draw nearer to you by a cubit, and if you draw nearer to Him by a cubit, He will draw nearer to you by a fathom. And if you walk towards Him, He will rush to you." Well, I drew nearer to Him by miles and miles and He far surpassed my efforts. And I sprinted to Him, and He rushed to me at lightspeed. That is not to say there were not times when I was terrified. Americans do not think too fondly of Muslims, and after all the negative media portrayals I expected my friends to feel similarly about the subject. Some do, and I do not mind letting them go as friends. A friend should accept you for what you are, and also should draw you nearer to Allah. Spending time with those friends makes it obvious to me that they are not what is best for me, and that I prefer friends who are of my religion. When it's time to pray, I can go pray without having to explain myself. When we see someone walking down the street that is "different" we do not judge them, as opposed to tease them or harass them as my friends and I had done in the past. That is not to say I do not makedu'aa (or prayer) for them. There are friends who support me and love me no matter what my choice is, and to them I am thankful. I can only hope that Allah (swt) draws them nearer to Him. However, what I was surprised to find out of these friends is the complete lack of knowledge about Islam, and oftentimes about their own religions as well. I was ignorant about Islam before converting, but I had not thought that all of my friends would equally as ignorant about Islam and their ownreligions! It is my biggest honor in life to be Muslim. It is my second biggest honor to explain Islam to others. I am thankful that people feel comfortable enough around me at a grocery store, or in line at Subway, or at my office, or at the park to ask me about my faith, I just hope that I am eloquent and intelligent enough to speak for my faith. There's nothing I love talking about more than what we believe in and why we believe in it. I cannot force others to believe

    >>>Crux of the Matter<<<
    .
When Ali (rd) became Caliph, he did not revoke the decision of Abu Bakr (rd)on the propety of Fadak. What stopped Ali (rd) from doing this? So why are the Shia against Abu Bakr (rd) when Ali (rd) upheld the decision? In fact, the scholar Sayyid Murtada (known as 'Alam al-Huda) narrates in his book on Imamah entitled ash-Shafi, that when Ali (rd) became the Caliph he was approached about returning Fadak. Ali's reply (rd) was:
    .
"I am ashamed before Allah to overturn something that was prohibited by Abu Bakr and continued by Umar." (al-Murtada, ash-Shafi fil-Imamah, p. 231; and Ibn Abil Hadid, Sharh Nahj al-Balaghah, vol. 4)
    .
This here is the crux of the matter. Why didn't Ali (rd) return Fadak once he became Caliph? There is no Shia response to this question. We ask our Shia brothers to guess who returned Fadak. The Shia will be shocked to know that it would be a later Umayyad Caliph that returned Fadak to the descendants of Fatima (rd), even though the Umayyads are hated and villified by the Shia. (However, this decision by the Umayyad Caliph was over-turned by future Caliphs on the basis that it was incorrect, considering that the Prophet[pbuh] forbade inheritance of his property, and that Abu Bakr [rd], Umar [rd], Uthman [rd], and Ali [rd] upheld the decision of Fadak.)
    .
So again, we ask our Shia brothers: why didn't Ali (rd) return Fadak once he became Caliph? Why did he uphold Abu Bakr's decision (rd) if it was so wrong? Why don't the Shia hate Ali (rd) for failing to return Fadak? Why don't they hate Ali (rd) for reaping the gains of Fadak while he was Caliph? Why the double standard with Abu Bakr (rd)? The Shia say that Caliph Umar (rd) gave Fadak back to Hasan(rd) and Hussain (rd), and they accuse Caliph Uthman (rd) of being a tyrant because he snatched it back from them. So then the question is: why didn't Ali (rd) return Fadak to Hasan (rd) and Hussain (rd) when he became Caliph? Uthman (rd) is a tyrant but Ali (rd) is not? Indeed this is nothing short of an incredible double standard.
    .
What is also interesting is that Hasan (rd) –who was also Caliph for a short duration– also did not return Fadak! He did not claim it for himself, nor did he distribute it to the other inheritors from Fatima's lineage (rd). So why did he too do nothing about Fadak? Surely, if blame is to be put on Abu Bakr's shoulders (rd), and on the shoulders of Uthman (rd), then fairness dictates that equal blame should be put on Hasan (rd)!
    .
    >>>Shia Rebuttal #1: #Taqiyyah<<<
    .
According to the Shia, Fadak should have been rightfully distributed to the progeny of Fatima (rd). Then, why didn't Ali (rd) do what is right? The only response the Shia can give is their standard cop-out: why, of course Ali (rd) was doing Taqiyyah! The Shia will say that this is why he didn't return Fadak. Oh, nice! Whenever the logic of historical facts do not sit well with the Shia narrative, they will then always have the trump card of Taqiyyah. (Taqiyyah, according to a Shia Hadith in Al-Kafi, means to say something outwardly but mean something else inwardly.)
How can we have an intelligent discussion with the Shia when everyone in history is doing Taqiyyah? Why can't we claim then that Abu Bakr (rd) was also doing Taqiyyah and that's why he didn't return Fadak to Fatima? And why couldn't we say that Uthman (rd) was also doing Taqiyyah? It becomes comical when one's entire historical narrative rests on Taqiyyah. There is no way to prove anything if we rely on Taqiyyah as a precedent.
    .
The only way the Shia can answer why Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) took Abu Bakr (rd) as a companion and even married his daughter is that the Prophet (pbuh) was of course doing Taqiyyah! The only way that the Shia can reconcile the fact that Ali (rd) didn't fight the Three Caliphs like Hussain (rd) fought Yazid is again of course Taqiyyah! Why didn't Allah reveal anything in the Quran about Imamah or the Wilayah of Ali? Again, Allah was doing Taqiyyah!
    .
    >>>Shia Rebuttal #2: Usurped Property<<<
    .
We have also seen the Shia propagandists claim that the reason Ali (rd) didn't take back Fadak was that the Ahlel Bayt does not take back usurped property. To bolster this argument, the Shia will bring up the example of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), whose Meccan home had been usurped by the infidels; upon conquering Mecca, the Prophet (pbuh) did not take it back.
    .
This answer is very weak, and easily debunked by simply providing the names of Infallible Imams of the Shia who accepted usurped property. Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz "returned" Fadak to Imam Muhammad Al-Baqir, who accepted it. Imam Al-Baqir is considered to be one of the Infallible Imams of the Shia, and thus very much part of what the Shia consider to be the Ahlel Bayt. Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz was wrong in returning Fadak (and his ruling was overturned by later Caliphs), but that's not the point. The point is that we see here that one of their twelve Infallible Imams accepted usurped property.
    .
The government once again took back Fadak, and then another Caliph came along later down the line who decided to once again return Fadak to the descendants of Fatima (rd). Caliph Ma'mun would return Fadak to Imam Rida, yet another of those whom the Shia consider to be Infallible Imams. And there are a couple more examples of the Shia Infallibles accepting usurped property. Thus, this argument of the Shia is baseless.
    .
The Answering-Ansar Team has argued that "no Shia would use such a pathetic argument", but the reality is that we have seen this argument being used again and again on various forums. Thus, it was imperative that we respond to it here. We are glad that the Answering-Ansar Team also recognizes the baseness of this argument; instead, they have said that Ali (rd) did not want to commit Fitnah (i.e. disunity, chaos, etc) and this is why he didn't return Fadak. We address this argument below.
    .
    >>>Shia Rebuttal #3: Ali (rd) Didn't Want Fitnah<<<
    .
One could just as easily say that Abu Bakr (rd) didn't return Fadak for the exact same reason. Abu Bakr (rd) must have been under immense stress from the general public who would have been angered if the Shariah was abandoned for those of a high rank such as Fatima (rd). Abu Bakr (rd) was held accountable to many poor people who would recieve aid from the charity money obtained from Fadak. This was at the same time that Abu Bakr (rd) was waging a war against those who refused to pay Zakat. Abu Bakr (rd) was so strict on the Shariah in regards to the charity from Zakat; imagine how upset the apostate renegades would have been had they seen him be lax on the charity from Fadak.
    .
In any case, this argument of the Shia is pretty much the same as the Taqiyyah argument. Thus, our counter -response above applies here as well. In any case, if Ali (rd) was a brave and courageous man, then he should have done what is right and restored the land to its rightful owners. The cowardly image of Ali (rd) that the Shia portray –of a man who cannot stand up for what he thinks is right– is offensive to the Ahlus Sunnah. The Shia believe that Ali (rd) could make all the atoms of the earth submit to him, so surely he should have used some of this supernatural power to do what is right.
    .
    >>>Shia Rebuttal #4: Fatima (rd) Was Dead<<<
    .
Sometimes an E-Shia will try forwarding the argument that Fatima (rd) died six months into Caliph Abu Bakr's rule, and thus Fadak was a non-issue by the time Ali (rd) became Caliph. Unfortunately, this argument falls apart when we look at the Shia narrations which show that Ali (rd) approached Umar (rd) and asked him to return Fadak to Fatima's heirs, including Hasan (rd) and Hussain (rd). Thus, according to the Shia, Fadak was still a monumental issue and the land should be returned to the progeny of Fatima (rd). In fact, the Shia today still claim that Fadak should be returned to those whom they call "Syedi."
    .
Hasan (rd) and Hussain (rd) were the inheritors of Fatima (rd), and thus Fadak –according to the Shia– was their right. The Shia curse Uthman (rd) for taking Fadak away from Ali (rd) and giving it to Marwan (rd). As can be seen, the issue of Fadak did not then die with Fatima (rd) and this argument is weak.
    .
    >>>Conclusion<<<
    .
The Shia accusations against Abu Bakr (rd) are baseless, since he was following orders from Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and this decision was upheld by Ali (rd). If the Shia want to lay blame on Abu Bakr (rd) for using Fadak as a charitable property, then the Shia should also accuse Ali (rd) since he did the same thing during his Caliphate. The truth is that Ali (rd) did at first think that Fadak should be given to Fatima (rd); however, he changed his mind after being presented with Abu Bakr's argument (rd), and this is why Ali (rd) upheld the first Caliph's decision in regards to Fadak.

Warte nicht bist du den Tod nah fühlst und dann sagst: "Dies ist für den und das ist für den, wo es dann schon einem anderen gehört." (Bukhari, Muslim)

We need to have a sense of shame -'haya' before Allah subhana ta'aala. Shame in using the blessings of Allah in a way that displeases him. We should feel ashamed knowing that He sees us and watches us, knowing that we will have to stand before Him and give account of whatever we've done.

During the attacks, both hotels were surrounded by Rapid Action Force personnel and Marine Commandos (MARCOS) and National Security Guards (NSG) commandos. When reports emerged that attackers were receiving television broadcasts, feeds to the hotels were blocked. Security forces stormed both hotels, and all nine attackers were killed by the morning of 29 November. Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan of the NSG was killed during the rescue of Commando Sunil Yadav, who was hit in the leg by a bullet during the rescue operations at Taj. 32 hostages were killed at the Oberoi Trident. A number of European Parliament Committee on International Trade delegates were staying in the Taj Mahal hotel when it was attacked, but none of them were injured. British Conservative Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Sajjad Karim (who was in the lobby when attackers initially opened fire there) and German Social Democrat MEP Erika Mann were hiding in different parts of the building. Also reported present was Spanish MEP Ignasi Guardans, who was barricaded in a hotel room. Another British Conservative MEP, Syed Kamall, reported that he along with several other MEPs left the hotel and went to a nearby restaurant shortly before the attack. Kamall also reported that Polish MEP Jan Masiel was thought to have been sleeping in his hotel room when the attacks started, but eventually left the hotel safely. Kamall and Guardans reported that a Hungarian MEP's assistant was shot. Also caught up in the shooting were the President of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, while checking in at the Oberoi Trident, and Indian MP N. N. Krishnadas of Kerala and Gulam Noon while having dinner at a restaurant in the Taj hotel. Nariman House[edit] Main article: Nariman House Front view of the Nariman House a week after the attacks Nariman House, a Chabad Lubavitch Jewish center in Colaba known as the Mumbai Chabad House, was taken over by two attackers and several residents were held hostage. Police evacuated adjacent buildings and exchanged fire with the attackers, wounding one. Local residents were told to stay inside. The attackers threw a grenade into a nearby lane, causing no casualties. NSG commandos arrived from Delhi, and a Naval helicopter took an aerial survey. During the first day, 9 hostages were rescued from the first floor. The following day, the house was stormed by NSG commandos fast-roping from helicopters onto the roof, covered by snipers positioned in nearby buildings. After a long battle, one NSG commando Havaldar Gajender Singh Bisht and both perpetrators were killed. Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka Holtzberg, who was six months pregnant, were murdered with four other hostages inside the house by the attackers. According to radio transmissions picked up by Indian intelligence, the attackers "would be told by their handlers in Pakistan that the lives of Jews were worth 50 times those of non-Jews." Injuries reported on some of the bodies indicate they may have been tortured. End of the attacks[edit] By the morning of 27 November, the NSG had secured the Jewish outreach center at Nariman House as well as the Oberoi Trident hotel. They also incorrectly believed that the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers had been cleared of attackers, and soldiers were leading hostages and holed-up guests to safety, and removing bodies of those killed in the attacks. However, later news reports indicated that there were still two or three attackers in the Taj, with explosions heard and gunfire exchanged. Fires were also reported at the ground floor of the Taj with plumes of smoke arising from the first floor. The final operation at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel was completed by the NSG commandos at 08:00 on 29 November, killing three attackers and resulting in the conclusion of the attacks. The NSG rescued 250 people from the Oberoi, 300 from the Taj and 60 people (members of 12 different families) from Nariman House. In addition, police seized a boat filled with arms and explosives anchored at Mazgaon dock off Mumbai harbour. Attribution[edit] Ajmal Kasab at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Main articles: Attribution of the 2008 Mumbai attacks and Erroneous reporting on the 2008 Mumbai attacks The Mumbai attacks were planned and directed by Lashkar-e-Taiba militants inside Pakistan, and carried out by ten young armed men trained and sent to Mumbai and directed from inside Pakistan via mobile phones and VoIP. In July 2009 Pakistani authorities confirmed that LeT plotted and financed the attacks from LeT camps in Karachi and Thatta. In November 2009, Pakistani authorities charged seven men they had arrested earlier, of planning and executing the assault. Mumbai police originally identified 37 suspects—including two army officers—for their alleged involvement in the plot. All but two of the suspects, many of whom are identified only through aliases, are Pakistani. Two more suspects arrested in the United States in October 2009 for other attacks were also found to have been involved in planning the Mumbai attacks. One of these men, Pakistani American David Headley, was found to have made several trips to India before the attacks and gathered video and GPS information on behalf of the plotters. In April 2011, the United States issued arrest warrants for four Pakistani men as suspects in the attack. The men, Sajid Mir, Abu Qahafa, Mazhar Iqbal, and alias "Major Iqbal", are believed to be members of Lashkar-e-Taiba and helped plan and train the attackers. Negotiations with Pakistan[edit] Pakistan initially denied that Pakistanis were responsible for the attacks, blaming plotters in Bangladesh and Indian criminals, a claim refuted by India, and saying they needed information from India on other bombings first. Pakistani authorities finally agreed that Ajmal Kasab was a Pakistani on 7 January 2009, and registered a case against three other Pakistani nationals. The Indian government supplied evidence to Pakistan and other governments, in the form of interrogations, weapons, and call records of conversations during the attacks. In addition, Indian government officials said that the attacks were so sophisticated that they must have had official backing from Pakistani "agencies", an accusation denied by Pakistan. Under US and UN pressure, Pakistan arrested a few members of Jamaat ud-Dawa and briefly put its founder under house arrest, but he was found to be free a few days later. A year after the attacks, Mumbai police continued to complain that Pakistani authorities were not cooperating by providing information for their investigation. Meanwhile, journalists in Pakistan said security agencies were preventing them from interviewing people from Kasab's village. Home Minister P. Chidambaram said the Pakistani authorities had not shared any information about American suspects Headley and Rana, but that the FBI had been more forthcoming. An Indian report, summarising intelligence gained from India's interrogation of David Headley, was released in October 2010. It alleged that Pakistan's intelligence agency (ISI) had provided support for the attacks by providing funding for reconnaissance missions in Mumbai. The report included Headley's claim that Lashkar-e-Taiba's chief military commander, Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi, had close ties to the ISI. He alleged that "every big action of LeT is done in close coordination with [the] ISI." Investigation[edit] Police looking for attackers outside Colaba According to investigations, the attackers travelled by sea from Karachi, Pakistan, across the Arabian Sea, hijacked the Indian fishing trawler 'Kuber', killed the crew of four, then forced the captain to sail to Mumbai. After murdering the captain, the attackers entered Mumbai on a rubber dinghy. The captain of 'Kuber', Amar Singh Solanki, had earlier been imprisoned for six months in a Pakistani jail for illegally fishing in Pakistani waters. The attackers stayed and were trained by the Lashkar-e-Taiba in a safehouse at Azizabad near Karachi before boarding a small boat for Mumbai. David Headley was a member of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and between 2002 and 2009 Headley travelled extensively as part of his work for LeT. Headley received training in small arms and countersurveillance from LeT, built a network of connections for the group, and was chief scout in scoping out targets for Mumbai attack having allegedly been given $25,000 in cash in 2006 by an ISI officer known as Major Iqbal, The officer also helped him arrange a communications system for the attack, and oversaw a model of the Taj Mahal Hotel so that gunmen could know their way inside the target, according to Headley's testimony to Indian authorities. Headley also helped ISI recruit Indian agents to monitor Indian troop levels and movements, according to a US official. At the same time, Headley was also an informant for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Headley's wives warned American officials of Headley's involvement with LeT and his plotting attacks, warning specifically that the Taj Mahal Hotel may be their target. US officials believed that the Inter-Services Intelligence (I.S.I.) officers provided support to Lashkar-e-Taiba militants who carried out the attacks. The arrest of Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Hamza in June 2012 provided further clarity on how the plot was hatched. According to Abu Hamza, the attacks were previously scheduled for 2006, using Indian youth for the job. However, a huge cache of AK-47's and RDX, which were to be used for the attacks, was recovered from Aurangabad in 2006, thus leading to the dismantling of the original plot. Subsequently, Abu Hamza fled to Pakistan and along with Lashkar commanders, scouted
