    Ibn Adyi berichtete, dass Dawud Ibn Abi Hind vierzig Jahre lang fastete, ohne dass seine Familie dies wusste. Sein Beruf war Stickerei, so konnte er sein Frühstück mit sich (zur Arbeit) nehmen, doch unterwegs spendete er es als Almosen. Wenn er abends zurückkam, brach er das Fasten mit der Familie, und sie wussten nicht, dass er fastete.
