By Kevin Barrett | Sep 17, 2014 According to the corporate media, the US is leading the fight against ISIL, the un-Islamic terror group posing as "Islamic State." Yet American leaders' words and actions raise questions about their real goals. In his speech last week Obama said: "I will not hesitate to take action against ISIL in Syria as well as Iraq." But then on Monday night, senior administration officials suggested that the real target of US intervention in Syria would be the government of President Bashar al-Assad – ISIL's number one enemy! Last night's Associated Press story headlined "US would hit back against Assad attack" begins: "The United States would retaliate against Syrian President Bashar Assad's air defenses if he were to go after American planes launching airstrikes in his country, senior Obama administration officials said Monday." These "senior officials" delivered an explicit threat against Assad. They said that any Syrian attempt to enforce that nation's sovereignty would provoke US attacks on Syrian air defenses. This is precisely the scenario desired by Zionist neoconservatives, who have spent years plotting to use the US Air Force to overthrow the government of Syria. These warmongers tried to trick the US into bombing Syria last year by staging the false-flag chemical weapons incident at al-Ghouta. They were stymied by Presidents Obama and Putin, who worked together to defuse the situation and avoid a potential World War III scenario. The neocon-Zionist forces retaliated by orchestrating the overthrow of democratically-elected President Yanukovych in Ukraine. That coup d'état was arranged by Victoria Nuland, wife of neocon-Zionist plotter Robert Kagan. Its purpose: Ruin the Obama-Putin relationship and revive Zionist efforts to destroy Syria. The Zionists, who are behind schedule on their 9/11 plan to destroy "seven countries in five years," want to overthrow Assad en route to Tehran; and they know the only way to remove Assad is through the kind of massive US-NATO bombing campaign that overthrew the Qaddafi government in Libya. Two major obstacles stop the US from bombing Syria. One is Russia, which has drawn a red line around Syria, saying to NATO "You will not do to Syria what you did to Libya." Any all-out Western attack on Syria would risk a Russian response that could escalate into a nuclear World War III. The other obstacle is Syria's Russian-built air defense system, which is reportedly highly advanced and capable of shooting down US, NATO or Israeli planes. US military planners know that if they tried to bomb Syria they would lose planes. The specter of Syrian shoot-downs of US-NATO planes over Syria, followed by Russian intervention on behalf of Syria, has thus far dissuaded the kind of US-NATO bombing campaign that would be required to enforce "regime change," i.e. Libyan-style destabilization and national destruction, on Syria. Now it seems the neocons are trying to send US bombers into Syria under the flimsy pretext of fighting ISIL, Syria's enemy. They apparently hope that Assad, the Russians, and the world will be fooled into thinking that US-NATO bombers will only target ISIL. Yet the neocons have been publicly suggesting that US bombers should also support the so-called "moderate Syrian rebels" who are supposedly fighting against ISIL as well as against the Syrian government. If the Zionist-dominated US or its NATO proxies bomb Syria, Presidents Assad and Putin will have to assume the worst: Under cover of attacking ISIL, the bombs will actually be used to attempt to overthrow Assad. Ironically, ISIL would be one of the biggest beneficiaries. And so would ISIL's sponsors, the Zionists and their American neocon agents. The US threat to bomb Syria, using ISIL as the pretext, is yet another preposterous false flag scenario. Just as when the US threatened to bomb Syria in retaliation for Assad's alleged chemical weapons attack at al-Ghouta, the neocons are conjuring up a "dastardly enemy" in order to sell their war plans. In the wake of the al-Ghouta incident of August 2013, the neocons tried to portray President Assad as a monster who had slaughtered thousands of his own people with WMD for no military purpose. Neoconservative propaganda demonizing Assad flooded the Zionist-dominated Western corporate airwaves. Yet as Seymour Hersh reported (more than six months after Press TV and Veterans Today broke the story) it was actually the enemies of President Assad who launched the al-Ghouta chemical attack. Al-Ghouta was a false flag designed to force Obama, who had been tricked by the neocons into drawing a red line around the chemical weapons issue, to bomb Syria. Fortunately, the ruse was exposed – and a World War III scenario nipped in the bud. Though their August 2013 demonization of Assad misfired, the neocons are back with a slightly more plausible "evil enemy image" designed to justify the destruction of Syria. That evil enemy image, of course, is the veiled face of the bloody butchers of ISIL. If the Obama Administration were sincere in its stated intent to forge a broad regional coalition against ISIL, it would not be threatening to bomb the Syrian government, ISIL's biggest enemy. Instead, it would be working with President al-Assad's government, and the other governments of the region, as well as Russia, in a long-term effort to address the real causes of the rise of ISIL. And the first real cause that needs to be addressed is Western and Zionist support of ISIL. Why was ISIL armed and trained at CIA bases in Jordan? Why has Israel provided direct and indirect support to ISIL, going so far as to bring wounded ISIL fighters to Israeli hospitals for treatment? Why are Western assets in the Persian Gulf pouring money into ISIL's coffers? And why is the Western "deep state," which controls much of the world's illegal drug trade, throwing its dirty money at ISIL? The best way to stop ISIL would be for Obama to go on television and confess that US forces and its proxies, at the instigation of the neocon Zionists, created, armed, trained, and funded ISIL, in order to sow chaos and destruction, euphemistically termed "destabilization," throughout the Middle East. By admitting the truth that ISIL is a manufactured enemy – "the best enemy money can buy" – Obama could undercut the series of neoconservative false flags that are leading towards planetary nuclear destruction. He would also be undercutting what little legitimacy ISIL enjoys among that small segment of the Muslim population whose anger is matched only by its naiveté. During the same speech, Obama could reveal the fact that 9/11-anthrax, 7/7, the Madrid and Bali bombings, and the Mumbai slaughters have all been inside jobs orchestrated by the same neoconservative Zionist cabal. The goal: Turning global public opinion against Islam, and sparking a 100-years-war against Islam and Muslims on behalf of Greater Israel. Unfortunately, the chances of a US president unveiling the lies that govern our world are practically nil. Jabhat al-Nusra, which is designated as a terrorist organization by the Security Council, claimed responsibility for the abduction. Clashes also broke out between Filipino troops and the terrorist groups. Early last year, a number of Filipino UN personnel operating within the UNDOF, which monitors a disengagement accord established in 1974 between Syria and the Israeli enemy which occupies the Syrian Golan, were also kidnapped by armed terrorist groups in two separate incidents. "Israel is the most interested in having peacekeepers evacuated from the occupied Golan so as to be left without international monitoring," al-Jaafari told a press conference held on Tuesday. He noted that Syria has handed official documents and facts to the UN Secretary General that prove the involvement of the governments of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Jordan in supporting Jabhat al-Nusra and the other terrorist organizations. The information even included the phone number of the Qatari officer who was "coordinating for the kidnapping of the Fijian UNDOF personnel, al-Jaafari noted. "The UN General Assembly however did not lift a finger regarding that," he lamented. The Syrian Ambassador to the UN reiterated that Syria has repeatedly warned of the intentions of Israel, Qatar, Turkey and Saudi Arabia "which were particularly aimed at encouraging the armed terrorist organizations to enter the disengagement area with the aim of creating a buffer zone similar to that created by Israel and its agents in South Lebanon, which was liberated by the [Lebanese] Resistance in 2000." Having this issue in mind for the past two years, al-Jaafari said, "we sent dozens of letters to the UN Secretary General, members of the Security Council and the Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations in which we pointed out to that issue and warned of the danger of what is going on in the disengagement area, but there wasn't any response." "In one of my statements addressed to the General Assembly on behalf of my government, I officially informed them of the phone number of the Qatari intelligence officer who was giving instructions for kidnapping the Filipino troops the first time," al-Jaafari noted. "None of the peacekeeping operations members however made any move, neither did the UN Secretary General," he added. "It seems that this international organization is riddled with corruption prompted by the Gulf, Qatari and Saudi money," Syria's UN Representative said. He pointed out that the issue of some countries hosting training camps for terrorists who then are sent into Syria has been clearly exposed in media and become the talk of people, media and politicians alike, including those of the Western countries, "which has prompted those who have sponsored terrorism to now race to hold conferences to combat the very terrorism they themselves created." Al-Jaafari stressed that those who claim to be combating terrorism do not want to coordinate with the Syrian government or those of Iran, Russia and China "as they don't realy seek to fight terrorism. Rather they want to use terrorism to interfere further and further in the internal affairs of the region." He drew attention to the importance of the statements made by the Libyan Prime Minister two days ago in which he revealed that Qatar had sent warplanes to terrorist groups in Libya, referring also to the Libyan ambassador to the UN who only yesterday at the UN Security Council session "complained of those terrorist groups and grumbled about that fact that two states, whose names he didn't mention but which we know to be Turkey and Qatar, have been sending weapons to the terrorists in Libya." The army units took control of Al-Jadideh village in Hama countryside. Then they advanced towards Tal Al-Malh in the outskirts of Hama. Also in the past 24 hours, the Syrian army ambushed and killed dozens of Al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Nusra Front terrorists on Flita barrens in Qalamoun in Damascus countryside. Meantime, the Syrian army also killed 37 terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Deir Ezzur after fierce clashes with the terrorist group. Also, Syrian army destroyed the Siyassa bridge in Deir Ezzur in special operation carried out by elite forces and engineering units, leaving all operating militants killed and injured, informed sources said. The city has been totally isolated now from the rural area of Deir Ezzur following the operation as Siyassa Bridge was the main supply route for armed groups between both areas. Movements of militants had been also paralyzed as the heavy artillery of the Syrian army stormed their communities and main stationing points in the area following the huge blast. The opposition UK-based Syrian Observatory said the Siyassa Bridge was the only outlet connecting the ISIL-led areas which makes the terrorists' strongholds in Deir Ezzur trapped due to the control of the army on the land crossings. Elsewhere, the Syrian Armed Forces inflicted massive losses upon the foreign-backed rebels in Daraa and Aleppo countryside, leaving scores of them dead and injured. Hideouts of militants were stormed by the army in al-Nua'ima, Taiba, Tafas-Ataman, Syriatel, al-Ardon, Beer Um al-Daraj, in al-Bajabja and Katakit in the countryside of Daraa. A large number of militants lost their lives during the army operations. The Syrian soldiers also struck heavy blow on the militants in al-Sayyalieh, al-Bannawi al-Salloum, Deir Hafer, Maskana, Binnis, al-Shaqif, al-Enzarat, al-Marja, Karm al-Tahhan, Khanaser and Qastal al-Misht areas in the countryside of the Northern province of Aleppo, destroying their equipment. Meantime, the foreign-sponsored rebels operating in Syria suffered major losses as Syrian Army continued to gain more ground in their fight against the armed groups in the countryside of Homs and Idlib on Tuesday. A military source said that the Syrian soldiers inflicted heavy losses upon the militants in the areas of Park, al-Wa'ar, Taldo, al-Rastan, al-Sa'an, Um Sharshouh and al-Sumsur in Homs countryside, leaving scores of them dead. The armed forces killed a number of terrorists and wounded others, including a leader of one of the terrorist groups called Mohammad Abdul-Aziz al-Swais. Meanwhile, strongholds of the rebels were raided by the army soldiers in the villages and towns of al-Amara al-Souda, al-Boauiti and al-Zabboula in Abu al-Zohour in Idlib countryside leaving a number of terrorists killed and wounded. Also, the Lebanese army clashed with terrorists from al-Nusra Front overnight, as the militants sought to cross into Lebanon after suffering heavy casualties in clashes with the Syrian army. The Syrian army had killed dozens of al-Nusra Front terrorists in an ambush in the Qalamoun border region of Flita, some 7 kilometers from the border with Lebanon, shortly before midnight. Security sources said that some of the militants had then fled toward Lebanon, leading to clashes with the Lebanese army, which repelled them. The state-run National News Agency said a number of the militants were killed and wounded in the fighting with Lebanese soldiers. The porous, undemarcated border region has been the scene of nearly continuous fighting in recent weeks, with the Lebanese army working to expel Syrian militants after they briefly took the town of Arsal at the beginning of August in clashes that killed dozens. The terrorists, from the al-Nusra Front and ISIL, are still holding at least 22 Lebanese soldiers and policemen hostage. The conflict in Syria started in March 2011, when sporadic pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of western and regional states. The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle-East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history. As the foreign-backed insurgency in Syria continues without an end in sight, the US government has boosted its political and military support to Takfiri extremists. The video also includes the words of Obama making the pledge that, "American combat troops will not be returning to fight in Iraq." It also includes an image of former US president George W. No one speaks in the video, however it ends by flashing words on the screen: "Flames of War: Fighting Has Just Begun" followed by "coming soon." The clip was produced by the Al Hayat Media Center, Daesh's media propaganda arm. The timing of the video comes as the most senior US military officer, Gen. Martin Dempsey, who said in testimony to the Senate Armed Services Committee that if the current Iraq strategy doesn't prevail, he may recommend the use of ground troops.
