Sesungguhnya Allah Maha mengetahui apa yang mereka perbuat. Katakanlah kepada para wanita yang beriman: "Hendaklah mereka menahan pandangannya dan menjaga kemaluannya. Janganlah mereka menampakkan perhiasannya kecuali yang (biasa) nampak dari padanya. Hendaklah mereka menutupkan kain kudung ke dada mereka, dan janganlah menampakkan perhiasan mereka kecuali kepada suami mereka, atau ayah mereka, atau ayah suami mereka, atau putera-putera mereka, atau putera-putera suami mereka, atau saudara-saudara laki-laki mereka, atau putera-putera saudara lelaki mereka, atau putera-putera saudara perempuan mereka, atau wanita-wanita Islam, atau budak-budak yang mereka miliki, atau pelayan-pelayan laki-laki yang tidak mempunyai keinginan (terhadap wanita), atau anak-anak yang belum mengerti tentang aurat wanita. "[QS An Nur: 30-31] Dari Jarir bin Abdillah radhiallahu 'anhu, dia berkata: سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عن نظر الفجاءة، فأمرني أن أصرف بصري "Saya bertanya kepada Rasulullahصلى الله عليه وسلم tentang pandangan mata yang tidak disengaja. Beliau memerintahkanku untuk memalingkan pandanganku. "[HR Muslim (2159)] Dalil lainnya adalah hadits Abdullah bin Abbas radhiallahu 'anhuma. "[QS Al Isra`: 37] Akan tetapi ini tidak berarti bahwa mereka memaksakan diri untuk bersikap seperti orang yang sedang sakit ataupun membuat-buat dengan tujuan agar dipuji manusia (riya).
