Ein australischer Vater sucht seine drei Söhne, die in der Schlacht um Gallipoli als Gefallen gemeldet wurden. Nach dem Tod seiner Frau entschließt sich Joshua Connor, in die Türkei zu reisen um die Grabstätte seiner Söhne zu suchen. In der Türkei angekommen, wird ihm der Zutritt von britischen Besatzungsmitgliedern zum Schlachtfeld von Gallipoli verweigert. Dennoch schafft er es, zwei Grabstätte seiner Söhne zu finden. Connor freundet sich mit dem türkischen Major Hasan und dem Unteroffizier Cemal an. Einer der beiden findet heraus, dass ein Sohn von Connor gefangen genommen wurde. Zusammen machen sich Hasan, Cemal und Connor auf den Weg, um nach ihm zu suchen. Ein Film der zeigt, dass in einem Krieg auf beiden Seiten Verluste getragen werden, auf beiden Seiten Menschen ihre Väter, Brüder und Ehemänner verlieren. Und dennoch gibt es diese Momente, wenn nach all den Schmerzen und Verlusten aus Feinden Verbündete werden, wenn es um das Leben eines Sohnes geht. Im schleichenden Zerfall des osmanisches Reiches kämpften 1915 in der Schlacht um die Halbinsel Gallipoli, bei den Türken "Çanakkale Savasi" genannt, u.a. Australier, Briten und Franzosen gegen die Türken und ihre Verbündeten, den Deutschen und Österreichern. Nach der Eroberung der Halbinsel sollte es für die Alliierten weiter nach Istanbul zur Eroberung gehen. Trotz besserer Ausrüstung und mehr Kriegsschiffen gelang es ihnen aber nicht,die Halbinsel zu besetzen. Insgesamt verloren über 350.000 Menschen ihr Leben. Kinostart: 07.05.2015 Zum Anzac Day am 25. April strömen Tausende von Australiern und Neuseeländern nach Canakkale und gedenken Ihren Großvätern. Dazu verhalf dieser Brief von Atatürk an die Mütter der gefallenen Soldaten. An dem Atatürk Denkmal in Australien stehen die folgenden historischen Worte von Atatürk an die Anzak-Mütter: „Diese Helden, die ihr Blut vergossen und ihr Leben ließen… nun liegt ihr in dem Boden eines freundlichen Landes. Darum ruhet in Frieden. Da gibt es keinen Unterschied zwischen den Johnnies und den Mehmets, dort wo sie Seite an Seite in diesem unserem Lande liegen… Ihr, die Mütter, die ihre Söhne aus weit entlegenen Ländern schickten, wischt weg eure Tränen. Verily, Allah does not like such as are proud and boastful." [al-Nisaa' 4:36] Harming a neighbour is haraam because of the greatness of his rights. Abu Shurayh (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe, by Allah, he does not believe." He was asked, "Who, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The one from whose harm his neighbour is not safe." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, see Fath al-Baari, 10/443) The #Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarded the praise or criticism of a neighbour as a measure of a person's goodness or badness. Ibn Mas'ood (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man said to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah, how may I know if I am doing well or not?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If you hear your neighbour say that you are good, then you are doing well, and if you hear him saying that you are bad, you are not doing well." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, 1/402, see also Saheeh al-Jaami', 623) Harming a neighbour may take many forms, including: not allowing him to fix a piece of wood to a shared wall or fence; expanding one's dwelling in such a way as to deprive him of sun or air without his permission; opening windows overlooking his house and looking out of them to invade his privacy; disturbing him with loud sounds such as hammering or shouting, especially when he is asleep or resting; or throwing trash in front of his door. The sin of such deeds is increased when they are done to a neighbour, as the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a man were to commit adultery with ten women, it would be better for him than committing adultery with the wife of his neighbour, and if a man were to steal from ten houses, it would be better for him than stealing from the house of his neighbour." (Reported by al-Bukhaari in al-Adab al-Mufrad, no. 103; see also al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 65) Some treacherous people take advantage of a neighbour's absence during his night shift to enter his house and commit immoral acts.
