Two Sunni mosques forced to stop holding Friday prayer services, Mahabad, Iran
In yet another example of Iran's oppression of Sunni Muslims, the Iranian regime last week forced the closure of two Friday prayer services for Sunnis in Mahabad, northwestern Iran.
According to the HRA News Agency, security forces in West Azerbaijan province pressured the Imams of two Sunni Mosques, resulting in the closure of Friday prayer services.
Mullah Mohammad Mabzooleh and Mullah Fatah Sheikhi, the Imams of Kouye Hazhar mosque and Salahaddin Poshte Tapp mosque, were summoned to the Intelligence agency and intimidated, forcing them to stop holding Friday prayer services.
Three more Sunni Imams, Mullah Najm Uddin, Mullah Ali Khaledi and Mullah Seyyed Hassan Asadi, the Imams of Imam Shafi'i mosque, Shahrak mosque and Imam Majdi mosque, were also summoned to the Intelligence agency. Officials ordered them not to hold Friday prayer services in their mosques anymore. It is unclear at this stage whether the three mosques will continue to hold Friday prayers.
A local activist spoke to the HRA News Agency, saying, "The Intelligence [agency] sends plain-clothed officers to Sunni mosques, with the obvious intent to spread fear and panic amongst the Sunni people, to disperse them from the mosques."
He said, "It is to force [the Sunni Muslims] to have government-approved Friday prayers, where all sermons are written by the council."
The restrictions on Sunni worship in Iran is widespread. Human Rights Watch issued a statement in November urging Iran to lift restrictions on Sunni worship, following incidents where Sunnis in Tehran were prevented by security forces from performing Eid prayers for Eid al-Adha.
The British newspaper, The Guardian, also reported that Sunnis in Tehran were banned from holding Eid prayers to mark the end of Ramadan. Hundreds of security forces were deployed to block access to houses rented by Sunnis for prayers.
Numerous Sunni mosques in Iran have been shut down by the authorities. Earlier this year in October, a Sunni mosque was closed down in the town of Alek, Kurdistan province of Iran. The Imam, Mamousta Abdul Ghaffar Mohammadi had been threatened by Iranian officials, and the congregation was prevented from entering the mosque.

CNN cuts off Russian diplomat's remarks in favor of Syria rebels
The American CNN TV channel has cut out parts of its interview with the Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin about Syrian people support to their president and human rights violations committed by the US-backed Syrian opposition.
The Russian ITAR-TASS news agency reported that the final edition of the program by CNN's prominent host Christiane Amanpour lacks Churkin's answers to some key questions, one of which was about Assad's role after the start of the transition period.
"This is for Syrians to decide", Churkin said in the full version of the interview, which has been posted on the website of the Russian Embassy to the United Nations.
According to Churkin, "the reality is that many Syrians, in fact the better part of the Syrian population, back up President Assad, and this should also be taken into account". "So, let's launch a dialogue and make it possible for Syrians to make their own choice of the path towards ending the conflict", the diplomat said.
CNN has likewise dropped Vitaly Churkin's remarks that any preconditions by the Syrian opposition for the Geneva-2 conference are inadmissible.
Geneva-2 is due to kick off on January 22nd. The opposition earlier made certain demands even when the date of the expected conference was only being agreed.
Vitaly Churkin deplored the fact in a conversation with the ITAR-TASS news agency that CNN had broadcast a downsized version of his interview. He says that CNN has dropped "the more acute issues" of a Syrian settlement.
CNN has, besides, cut out the Russian Ambassador's assessment of the militants' activities, as well as moves by the countries that support them.
The Russian diplomat said specifically that a high level working party is currently holding consultations in Geneva to react to the humanitarian situation in Syria.
Churkin said "nobody knows who actually influences the hundreds or at least dozens of armed groups" preventing humanitarian aid from reaching the Syrian population.
"We must find out what these countries are, and they should assume responsibility for settling problems with the groups in question so the latter will not hinder the evacuation of the population from besieged areas. The opposition has prevented the evacuation of people from such areas on several occasions in recent months, whereas the government in Damascus was prepared to move people out", the Russian Ambassador to the UN said.
He also pointed out another fact that had also been dropped from the broadcast version of the interview. According to Churkin, "each time that the population leaves a besieged area, they move to territories under Syrian government control". "I think this speaks volumes about who the population pin their hopes on as regards the provision of humanitarian assistance", the diplomat said.

Syrian women raped and afraid to report in Lebanon
Syrian female refugees are suffering from extensive sexual abuse in Lebanon, the Human Rights Watch has warned expressing concern about their safety.
The rights organization said on Wednesday that it had interviewed a dozen female refugees in Lebanon who said they had been sexually harassed and exploited.
"Women who have fled death and destruction in Syria should find a safe haven, not sexual abuse, in Lebanon," said Liesl Gerntholtz, women's rights director at Human Rights Watch.
The Human Rights Watch official also stated that the victims do not report the incidents due to fear of reprisals by the abusers or arrest for not having a valid residency permit.
Gerntholtz also called on Lebanese officials to take measures for improving the refugee condition.
"Government and aid agencies need to open their eyes to the sexual harassment and exploitation of these vulnerable refugees and do everything in their power to stop it."
On November 21, the international aid agency Oxfam warned of the worsening situation of the thousands of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
"Refugees from Syria face a daily battle to survive in a country where jobs and affordable accommodation are scarce. The perpetual hunt for work is crushing people's hope," said Oxfam's Deputy Humanitarian Director Nigel Timmins.
According to the United Nations, more than 800,000 Syrians either have registered or are awaiting registration as refugees in Lebanon. Some Lebanese officials, however, said there could be over one million Syrian refugees in the country.
The United Nations has repeatedly warned against the humanitarian situation in Syria, saying that over nine million people are in need of urgent aid due to the crisis.
The war in Syria started in March 2011, when pro-reform protests turned into a massive insurgency following the intervention of Western and regional states.
The unrest, which took in terrorist groups from across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, has transpired as one of the bloodiest conflicts in recent history.

die Da ́wa-Tätigkeiten in Deutschland in moderner Form
und unter Zuhilfenahme neuer Medien auszuweiten.
In erster Linie geht es uns darum, das Bild der Muslime
und des Islams in Deutschland zu verbessern.
Wir alle können stolz auf unseren Glauben sein,
aber unsere Umwelt sollte auch stolz auf uns sein.
Gemäß diesem Motto ist das vorliegende Buch
gestaltet worden, das inshaAllah zur Aufklärung der Nicht-
Muslime über den Islam beiträgt und darüber hinaus den
Muslimen in Deutschland hilft, sich weiterzuentwickeln und
ihren Iman zu stärken.
