    Statement of Hizb ut-Tahrir Ukraine in connection with the recent events in the Crimea

    On the 27th of February, government buildings were seized by the armed men and Russia's armed forces moved freely on the territory of the peninsula. There were regular reports about either the seizure or attempts to capture the military units of the armed forces of Ukraine and buildings.

    On the 28th of February People's deputy Gennady Moskal disseminated false information through the channels of Russian News Agency that allegedly Hizb-ut-Tahrir plans to start armed confrontation in Crimea, which would lead to more active actions of the Russian military and a justification for their stay on the territory of the peninsula. In addition, a representative of the NGO "Milli Firka" Vasvi Abduraimov said that the clashes near the Supreme Court of Crimea on February 26th were attended by the members of Hizb ut-Tahrir. Also, today, on March the 2nd, there has been a statement of the new Head of General Security Service in Crimea Peter Zima who said that his agency will fight the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir, which he said is banned in many countries.

    In In the face of this complex situation Hizb ut-Tahrir Ukraine makes the following statements:

    1. Hizb ut-Tahrir is a non-violent Islamic political party. The party adheres to the Islamic Shariah law in all aspects of its work. It considers violence or armed struggle to re-establish the Islamic State, as a violation of the Islamic Shariah. It is well known that Hizb ut-Tahrir - during its 60 year existence from its creation in Palestine in 1953 and its nearly 20 year existence in Ukraine - has never been involved in terrorism, violence or militancy. The party did not adopt for itself the armed action, not in Crimea and not in other than Crimea, not today and not before that.
    The Party is banned only in totalitarian countries, where people are being persecuted for any dissent. The party's activity in Ukraine is to educate the people by Islam.

    2. Hizb ut-Tahrir Ukraine is not e
    ngaged in a struggle for power, whether in Crimea or in Ukraine. Therefore, we are not outside of any political opposition for power, including the events of the last 3 months.

    3. Events that occur today in the Crimea, are provocations performed by Russia, a humiliation and a challenge for the new Ukrainian government, and are a prelude to the big trade, in which the people and the land of Ukraine will be a commodity. Today, all of us are the hostages of geopolitical games between Europe, America and Russia, for which the lives of ordinary people have little value.

    4. Protection of the sovereignty of the state is a matter for the state, its institutions, which are designed to defend it.

    5. As for self-defence, protection from violence and attacks on life, honour and property - the natural right of any human being. We hope that this will not happen; people will stay prudent and will (not) let themselves be just pawns in this struggle.

    6. We believe that there is an extremely big probability that various acts of provocation in the form of attacks on military or civilians will be committed by "unidentified" people, as well as the likelihood of terrorist attacks against civilians, and then laying the responsibility for these attacks on b ut-Tahrir in order to justify the presence of the Russian armed forces in Crimea.

    We denounce any such fabrications and declare that the responsibility for such a scenario will rest with those who seized power in Crimea today.

    Solange Allah mit dir zufrieden ist, bist du der Sieger. Selbst dann, wenn die gesamte Menschheit mit dir unzufrieden ist und dich tadelt. Der Verlierer bist du dann, wenn du statt Allahs Zufriedenheit, die der Menschheit ersuchst.
