An estimated 1.5 million children living on streets are vulnerable to sexual abuse and drugs on daily basis. This is the unfortunate reality facing our children and all because of a decrepid ruling system which favours the rulers of Pakistan and places the people in severe hardship letting those leeches in society to feed of the people and the vulnerable children. The names of these children are Muhammad, Omar, Uthman, Aisha, Fatima and many other names of which we would link to the Sahaba and others from the rich history of Islam The number of children found living, working and begging on Pakistan's streets has been growing due to the increase in poverty. An estimated 1.5 million children live on the streets of Pakistan, according to various numbers from government surveys and private organisations. According to a recent survey by Initiator, 66 percent of street children are runaways who were forced to leave their homes after experiencing violence in household, workplace and educational institutions. But the runaway children appear to be more vulnerable to abuse than before. The issue was highlighted in December 1999, when serial killer Javed Iqbal sent a letter to a newspaper confessing to the murders of 100 street children in the city of Lahore. In cities such as Karachi, mafia exploit the street children by forcing them into begging and stealing. Who are these mafia and who allows them to roam free in our cities?? This is the question that needs to be answered but the underlying question that needs to be answered why did these children end up on the streets in the first place?? Why is it that these children feel the need to wander and live on the streets as opposed to living a sheltered life amongst their parents and siblings? Why is it that the families that these children come from cannot afford the to place food on the table? In Islam there are many factors in society which would negate the need ever for these children to be in such a situation where they would face sexual abuse and drug abuse. One just needs to look to the history of Islam under the Khulafa Rashida and the golden age under Caliph Haroon Al-Rashid. The children of this ummah are the future of this ummah if they are not protected and nurtured correctly what does the future of this blessed ummah hold if this continues... What were the ages of Muhammad Bin Qasim, Sultan Fatih and Tariq bin Ziyad? What were the ages of some of the Sahaba?? Indeed they were young in age...in fact some of them were children. But lets look at a more important point here do we see the children of Pakistan's elite class that rule the country amongst the estimated 1.5million children who are sexually abused and face drug abuse and exploitation?? Is it not the ruling system that allows this abuse of our children to take place?? Where are the safeguards to ensure this zulm does not happen?? The only change to solve this crisis of abuse upon our innocent children is to remove the current secular constitution as it is not befitting to have those placed over this blessed ummah and replaced by a constitution solely based upon Islam. We have a constitution solely based upon Islam like the one produced by Hizb ut-Tahrir.
