Während Sie diese Zeilen lesen, wird dieser junge Mann vielleicht beleidigt oder vor Hunger stöhnend, gefoltert. Er ist immer noch da in der Dunkelheit, wo niemand es auch nur wagt, sich vorzustellen, was mit ihm geschieht! Die Zahl der syrischen Gefangenen und verschwundenen Personen steigt zusehends, da Assads Schergen immer gewalttätiger und brutaler werden. Im August letzten Jahres starben 250 Syrier unter Folter, also acht Menschen täglich! Sie können sich vorstellen, was es bedeutet, wenn ein Gefangener nur davon träumt, auf die Toilette gehen zu können, ohne dass ihm jemand über die Schulter schreit! Das Assad-Regime hat die Statuten des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofs von Rom nicht unterzeichnet und die meisten der „freien" Staaten haben es versäumt, sich ihrer Verantwortung zu stellen, die sie gegenüber einem der schwersten Verbrechen des Jahrhunderts haben, obwohl durch den Bericht und die zugespielten Fotographien von „Caesar" beweiskräftig dokumentiert wurde, dass Assad 11.000 Menschen zu Tode foltern ließ. Aber wir können und wollen nicht tatenlos zusehen, wie Assads Schergen weiter Tausende unschuldiger Menschen unter Folter töten und dennoch ungestraft davonkommen! Wir starten diese Kampagne mit dem Motto „#SaveTheRest", um den Rest der illegal inhaftierten und gefolterten Gefangenen zu retten. Wir fordern: - Freilassung aller unschuldigen syrischen Gefangenen und Aufklärung über das Schicksal der gewaltsam Verschwundenen. - Abschaffung aller Militärgerichtsverfahren für die Zivilbevölkerung und ein Vorbringen dieser ungeheuerlichen Verbrechen am Gerichtshof für Menschenrechte. - Diejenigen vor Gericht zu bringen, die unschuldige Gefangene gefoltert und misshandelt haben. Bis dies erreicht werden kann, sind unsere dringendsten Forderungen: - Die Bildung von Ausschüssen zur Inspektion der Menschenrechtssituation von Häftlingen in syrischen Gefängnissen und Sicherheits-Branchen. - Die Bereitstellung ausreichender medizinischer Versorgung der Gefangenen unter der Aufsicht des Internationalen Roten Kreuzes und des syrischen Roten Halbmonds. - Angabe des Aufenthaltsorts eines jeden Häftlings. - Offenlegung der Massengräber, wo die Folteropfer verscharrt wurden. While you are reading these lines, this young man might be getting tortured or insulted while starving and groaning. He is still there in the dark where nobody dares even to imagine what's going on. The number of Syrian prisoners and forcibly disappeared people is escalating as Assad's forces are becoming more violent and brutal. 250 Syrian persons died under torture last August, which means 8 people died under torture every day! You can imagine what it means that a prisoners' dream is simply to use the toilet at leisure with no one shouting over their shoulders! The Assad regime has not ratified the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court and most 'free' states have failed to stand up to their responsibilities towards the most documented crime of the century as one report alone, based on leaked photographs by Caesar, showed 11,000 people killed under torture. Yet, we cannot stand idly by watching Assad's men killing thousands of innocent people under torture and let them get away with their crimes. We are here to #SaveTheRest who are illegally detained and tortured. We call for: - Releasing all Syrian prisoners of conscience and disclosing the fate of forcibly disappeared people. - Abolishing all military trials for civilians and trials before the court of terrorism that are an outrageousviolation of human rights. - Bringing to justice those who tortured innocent detainees and abused prisoners. In the meanwhile, we demand most urgently:: - Sending inspection committees to check human rights conditions of detainees in prisons and security branches. - Providing detainees with sufficient medical care under the supervision of the International Red Cross and Syrian Arab Red Crescent. - Disclosing the whereabouts of each detainee. - Disclosing the locations of mass graves of victims of torture Do something… Save them!
