Die Seldschuken/Selçuklu İmparatorluğu Teil 2
1055 zog Tughrul Bey siegreich in Baghdad ein. Vom Khalifen als "Sultan des Ostens und Westens" anerkannt, gebot er über die meisten östlichen und zentralen Provinzen des ehemaligen Abbasiden-Reiches. Mit den Seldschuken hatte erstmals eine türkische Dynastie die Führungsrolle im İslam übernommen.
İn Grenzkämpfen mit den Byzantinern erzielten die Türken Erfolge:
Antiochia/Antakya und Edessa/Urfa wurden aus oströmischen Besitz erobert. 1071 erlitten die Byzantiner bei Mantzikert/Malazgirt (nördl. des Van-See) eine vernichtende Niederlage gegen den seldschukischen Sultan Alparslan (1060-1072), so dass den Seldschuken der Weg ins innere Kleinasiens nicht mehr verwehrt werden konnte. Die türkische Einwanderung nach Anatolien war nicht eigentlich eine zentrale geplante Aktion; vielmehr hatten an ihr auch in Opposition zum großseldschukischen Sultan stehende türkische Kräfte Anteil, die wenig später (1075) einen unabhängigen Staat in Kleinasien gründeten, der bis ins 13. Jahrhundert weiter bestand.

1) They used to throw sand on him so that when he went home he would be covered in dust
2) They threw camel's guts on him while he was prostrating in prayer. He remained in prostration
3) Uqbah ibn Abi Mu'ayt took off his robe and wrapped it forcefully around Muhammad's neck, strangling him until he fell on his knees in pain.
4) They called him "Muthammam", meaning "the dispraised one"
Yet throughout these struggles, and his daughter's tears, he said "don't worry, Allah is supporting me, your father"
Just think about the struggles of our beloved prophet peace be upon him which were for his ummah - US - when you feel like your having a bad day!

Having to compete against well-funded efforts like The Verge and the new Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg effort launched last night, called Re/code, would be causing me to tear my hair out tonight. The thing is, many of these make a good chunk of profits from conferences, which is why PandoDaily announced a conference series very early on in its life. The reason I'm happy is I never had a way to stand out of the crowd and with Recode this has just gotten a lot harder to do. Look at who is speaking at its first new conference. Conferences that have been around for a decade, like LeWeb, struggle to get that quality of speaker. The truth is the world has too much tech journalism chasing too few stories. How does anyone stand out in this mess? Walt and Kara do, thanks to their decades of service inside famous news brands. This gets to what Hillel Fuld was asking entrepreneurs for: how do you have a home run? Especially when you aren't able to be unique? That's soul crushing and if you can't answer that then it's best to play a different game, which is what I'm doing with Rackspace Hosting. If you are an entrepreneur have you ever faced this fear before? Yes, I know, Google was the 17th search engine but Google had a HUGE differentiator that I got within 30 seconds of using it. I don't get what differentiates most media companies now, especially in a world where Walt and Kara have the sources and the team and are ready to rock and roll. Oh, and it does affect what I do at Rackspace too. How do we find new customers? How do we serve the ones we have better? How do we build our brand to resist the cloud commoditization that's happening now? A lot of that requires me to think differently too and I'm being commoditized as well (which is one of the reasons I wrote "Age of Context" with Shel Israel last year).
