    Aischa (RadiyAllahu 'anha) überliefert, dass der Gesandte Allahs (Sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) sagte: „Wenn jemand von euch zu essen anfängt, sollte er den Namen Allahs, des Erhabenen sprechen (mit den Worten „Bismillahi ta'ala"). Wenn er es zu Beginn vergisst (und sich später daran erinnert), sollte er sagen: „Bismillahi auwalahu wa akhirah.* (Abu Dawud und At-Tirmidhi) Nach At-Tirmidhi ist dies ein guter und gesunder Hadith (hasan sahih) * Auf Deutsch bedeutet dies: „Im Namen Allahs, am Anfang und am Ende (meiner Mahlzeit)."

    Umayyah ibn Makhshi berichtete: Umayyah saß und ein Mann war beim Essen. Er erwähnte Allahs Namen nicht bis nur noch der letzte Bissen übrig blieb. Als er ihn zum Mund hob, sagte er: Im Namen Allahs am Anfang und am Ende. Der Prophet (Allahs Segen und Friede auf ihm) lachte und sagte: Der Teufel hat mit ihm gegessen, als er Allahs Namen erwähnte, erbrach er das, was in seinem Bauch war.
