Everything from war and economic exploitation, to 'honour' killings, forced marriages and sex trafficking. We are under no illusion that the situation of our sisters in the Muslim world is far from acceptable. So it's perfectly reasonable to ask, shouldn't Muslim women be welcoming with open arms the Convention on Ending Discrimination and Violence against Women (CEDAW)? How could we possibly be against an international effort to end all forms of discrimination and oppression against us? But here lies the problem……….. The understanding of what constitutes 'discrimination' has been concocted from a purely Western secular liberal viewpoint. So now, EVERY aspect of life in which women are seen to be not treated on equal terms as men, has become viewed as a form of discrimination. Every area of life where women are naturally positioned to be superior, is viewed as 'gender stereotyping'. Hence child-rearing and being a home-maker even becomes a form of discriminatory practice against women! The agenda is clearly a feminist one; to create full gender integration, where no sex has an assigned role, or rights that are specific to them. In this respect, the international convention (CEDAW) is on a head-on collision with our Aqeeda and our Quran. Allah (SWT), in His Infinite Love, Mercy and Wisdom, has ascribed specific roles and rights to men and women. The woman's primary (but by no means exclusive) role as house-maker and mother, is of equal value and merit as that of the breadwinner male. These Shari'ah defined roles have never before, been perceived as an injustice to Muslim women. It is the Capitalist system, however, that values all things materialist. It is the dominant Capitalist ideology, which therefore ascribes only (economic) value and worth, to the earning worker and thereby demeans and devalues the roles of motherhood and home-maker. It is this failure to recognise the importance of family as the bedrock of society and women's crucial role in fostering it, which partly explains the epidemic of family breakdown and social dysfunction in Western societies. Yet CEDAW takes the role of men as the yardstick by which women's position must be measured against and the de facto standard to attain. This standard permeates into every sphere of life, no area is left unscathed. The economic, political, social, legal codes and family life, all come under the scrutiny of CEDAW. So the Muslim woman's dress code, her marriage being valid to only Muslim men, the Shari'ah laws on inheritance, polygamy, divorce, as well as the Shari'ah stipulation on political and religious office have all come under fire. CEDAW demands that all such practices according to Allah's Law be made illegal and punishable on the pretext that they are discriminatory! We see these changes coming into effect across the Muslim world. In Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey there have been changes made to the family code that regulate marriage, divorce and child custody. In the Maldives women have been given equal rights to become head of state, despite the well-known hadith of the Prophet (SAW) denouncing it. Even CEDAW's recommendation to legalise prostitution has been sanctioned in Bangladesh. In theory, CEDAW's article 2, to eliminate all forms of discrimination, can be used by the state or its institutions to justify banning the hijab. This attempt to impose a universal code of law in the shape of CEDAW, is really about uprooting any remnants of the Islamic Shari'ah that exist in our Muslim lands. It is about detaching the Ummah from having a connection to her Sacred Law, whether in public or private life. Its agenda is to replace, whatever remains of our Islamic legal code, with a secular conception of rights in order to restructure society and family along Western secular lines. | "Blogtrottr" <busybee@blogtrottr.com>: Feb 14 08:02AM Understand IslaMs Facebook-Pinnwand Understand IslaMs Facebook-Pinnwand یونیورسٹی سے آتے ھوئے ایک بھکاری پر نظر پڑی جو خاصی دھوپ میں بیٹھا ھوا تھا.. جس... http://www.facebook.com/understandislaam/posts/870593136332777 Feb 14th 2015, 07:30 یونیورسٹی سے آتے ھوئے ایک بھکاری پر نظر پڑی جو خاصی دھوپ میں بیٹھا ھوا تھا.. جس کے نہ ہاتھ تھے اور نہ ھی پاؤں.. جس کے اوپر بہت سی مکھیاں بیٹھی تھیں اور وہ ان کو اڑا بھی نہیں سکتا تھا.. کچھ دیر بعد مجھ پر یہ انکشاف ھوا کہ وہ نہ بول سکتا ھے نہ ھی سن سکتا ھے.. وہ بھیک مانگنے کے لئے تو بیٹھا ھوا تھا لیکن صدا لگانے کے بھی قابل نہیں تھا.. میں مُسلسل اس کو دیکھتا اور یہ سوچتا رھا کہ اس بھکاری کی جگہ میں بھی تو ھو سکتا تھا پھر اس کی جگہ پر میں کیوں نہیں..؟؟ میں نے تو کبھی کوئی ایسا کام نہیں کیا جس کی وجہ سے میں اس حال میں نہیں.. آخر میں کیوں نہیں اس جگہ پر..؟؟ مجھے کیوں الله نے ویسا نہیں بنایا..؟؟ وہ چاھتا تو مجھے دنیا کا مظلوم ترین انسان بنا دیتا ' پر اس نے نہیں بنایا.. میں ساری زندگی بھی سجدے میں رھوں تو بھی اس کا شکر ادا نہیں کر سکتا.. ھاتھ ' پاؤں ' آنکھیں ' کان ' سب کچھ تو دے رکھا ھے الله نے.. وہ چاھتا تو مجھے بھی دنیا میں محروم کر دیتا لیکن مجھے تو الله مسلسل عطا کیے جا رھا ھے.. عطا پر عطا ' مسلسل مہربانی.. میری نافرمانیوں ' کوتاھیوں کے باوجود مجھے دیتا ھی چلا جا رھا ھے الله.. اس سارے رحم و کرم کے بعد بھی میں شکر کیوں نہ کروں..؟؟ اِن آنکھوں کا جن سے میں دیکھ سکتا ھوں.. اس زبان کا جس سے میں ذکر کر سکتا ھوں.. ان ھاتھوں کا جن سے میں دعا مانگ سکتا ھوں.. الله کی دی ہوئی ہر ہر نعمت کا آخر ھم کیوں شکر ادا نہ کریں..؟؟ اور شکر کا سب سے احسن طریقہ یہ ھے کہ ھم ابھی سے ' آج سے ﷲ کی اطاعت اور حضور صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی غلامی کا عہد کر لیں.. پورے خلوصِ دل سے ____!!
