Es geschah dann, dass diejenigen, die sich unten aufhielten, immer an den Leuten vorbeigehen mussten, die sich oben befanden, um Trinkwasser zu holen. Da sagten diese: »Was haltet ihr davon, wenn wir ein Loch in unser Abteil bohrten und die Leute über uns nicht mehr belästigen?« Wenn die Leute (oben) dies zulassen würden, was die anderen zu tun beabsichtigen, so würden alle zusammen zugrunde gehen; und wenn sie sie mit der Tatkraft davon abhalten würden, so retteten sie sich selbst und alle anderen mit." [Sahīh Al-Bukhārī Nr. 2493] Der Hadīth zeigt deutlich, wie gefährlich Passivität und Gleichgültigkeit in bezug auf unsere Umwelt und im gesellschaftlichen Leben überhaupt nach dem Motto >es geht mich nichts an< sein kann. Die Bequemlichkeit des Schweigens gegenüber dem Unrecht der anderen hat katastrophale Folgen für alle Beteiligten. Das ist der Sinn aus dem Grundsatz des Islam, in dem die Umma stets angehalten wird, das Rechte zu gebieten und das Unrecht zu verbieten bzw. zu verwehren.
