Fällt eine tote Maus in ein Fass Fett, so wird die an sich reine Substanz mit einer unreinen Substanz (der verendeten Maus) vermischt. Aufgrund des folgenden Hadithes bei Buchari, sollte man bei festem Fett, die Teile nicht essen, die mit der Maus in Berührung gekommen sind. Unter Berufung auf Maimona, die berichtet, dass der Gesandte Allahs (Allahs Segen und Friede auf ihm) nach Fett gefragt wurde, in das eine Maus gefallen war. Er antwortete: "Werft sie und was sie umgibt (von dem Fett) weg und eßt eurer Fett." (Hadith sahih bei Buchari) Schädliche Substanzen sind z.B. Gifte. Es ist nicht erlaubt, sich schädliche Substanzen zuzuführen. Dies verdeutlichen folgende Quranverse. „ Und gebt auf Allahs Weg aus und stürzt euch nicht mit eigener Hand ins Verderben. Und tut Gutes. Allah liebt die Gutes Tuenden." (Quran 2:195) „... Und tötet euch nicht selbst (gegenseitig). Allah ist gewiss Barmherzig gegen euch." (Sure 4:29) Der Prophet (Allahs Friede und Segen auf ihm) sagte: „Keinen Schaden zufügen und keinen Schaden mit Schadenszufügung beantworten." (Hadith bei Ahmad, Ibn Madscha) Das Rauchen von Tabak, einer eindeutig schädlichen Substanz, wird daher im Islam teilweise als haram oder zumindest als verpönt angesehen. Neben der Schädigung der Gesundheit, einem schleichenden Selbstmord, stellt es auch eine Geldverschwendung dar. Eine berauschende Substanz ist z.B. Wein oder allgemein Alkohol.
