Als er zu ihm kam, verpasste dieser (Musa) ihm einen kräftigen Hieb und zerstörte dabei eines seiner Augen. Der Engel kehrte zu seinem Herrn zurück und sagte: „Du hast mich zu einem Deiner Diener gesandt, aber er will nicht sterben!" Da gab Allah dem Engel sein Auge zurück und sagte: „Geh zurück zu ihm und sag ihm, er möge seine Hand auf den Rücken eines Stieres legen, und für jedes Haar, das seine Hand bedeckt, soll er noch ein Jahr zu leben haben!" Als er (Musa) das hörte, sagte er: „O Allah! Und was soll dann geschehen?" Der Engel erwiderte: „Dann wirst du sterben!" Da rief er aus: „Oh, dann möchte ich lieber jetzt sterben!" Er bat Allah, ihn an einen Ort zu bringen, der einen Steinwurf vom geheiligten Land entfernt war. Danach sagte der Gesandte Allahs, Allahs Segen und Heil auf ihm: „Wären wir dort, dann würde ich euch sein Grab zeigen! Es ist neben der Straße unter der roten Sanddüne!""
