The court in the desert oasis city of Kashgar sentenced the 38-year-old #Uighur to six years, while his wife was given a two-year sentence, according to the China Youth Daily. The man "had started growing his beard in 2010″ while his wife "wore a veil hiding her face and a burqa", the paper said. The couple were found guilty of "picking quarrels and provoking trouble", a vague accusation regularly used in the Chinese judicial system. For more than a year the authorities in Xinjiang have been campaigning against men growing beards – a practice officials associate with extremist ideas. A campaign dubbed "Project Beauty" also encourages women to leave their heads bare and abandon wearing the veil, a relatively widespread practice among the Uighurs – the main Muslim ethnic group in Xinjiang. The Kashgar couple had "received several warnings" before being charged, the newspaper reported, citing local officials. "Since the beginning of the year, a certain number of people breaking the regulation on beards, veils and burqas have been prosecuted and sentenced," officials in Kashgar were quoted as saying by the paper. Kashgar authorities could not be reached for comment Sunday. Rights groups believe Beijing's repression of the Uighurs' culture and religion has fanned tensions in Xinjiang, a resource-rich region that abuts central Asia. Violence increased last year and at least 200 people were killed in a series of bombings and deadly clashes with security forces, blamed by Beijing on "separatists" and "religious extremists". In April last year authorities in Xinjiang's Shaya county offered cash to informants to report on neighbours with excessive facial hair. In August authorities in Karamay city banned people with large beards or Islamic clothing from travelling on public buses. Shocked at the jail sentence rights group said in a statement that such a case would not happen in any other country. "It is unacceptable and absurd. Zum einen kann man sich Wissen aneignen, indem man Bücher von vertrauenswürdigen Gelehrten liest, die für ihr Wissen und ihre richtige ´Aqida (d. h., dass sie den Quran und die Sunnah befolgen, keine Neuerungen begehen und nicht nach ihren Gelüsten handeln) bekannt sind.Das Aneignen von Wissen aus Büchern kann einer Person dazu verhelfen, ein gewisses Niveau zu erreichen, jedoch gibt es hierbei zwei Hindernisse: Das erste Hindernis ist, dass diese Form der Wissensaneignung sehr viel Zeit und Fleiß benötigt, um das angestrebte Ziel zu erreichen. Die meisten Menschen sind nicht in der Lage diese Hürde zu bewältigen. Zusätzlich verlieren sie schnell die Motivation, da sie sehen, dass viele ihre Zeit verschwendeten, ohne etwas erreicht zu haben. Das zweite Hindernis besteht darin, dass das Wissen der Personen, welche ausschließlich aus Büchern gelernt haben meistens sehr lückenhaft ist, da das Gelernte auf keiner soliden Grundlage basiert. Aus diesem Grund entdeckt man häufig viele Fehler bei denjenigen, die sich das Wissen ausschließlich aus Büchern aneignen. Manche von ihnen kommen mit Ahadith (Überlieferungen), die in den zuverlässigen Büchern nicht zu finden sind. Dennoch stützen viele von ihnen sogar ihren Glauben auf diese Ahadith. Dies geht gegen das Prinzip der Gelehrten und ist zweifellos falsch. Es gibt Regeln wie wir den Quran und die Sunnah zu verstehen haben. Verstößt etwas gegen die Regeln und ist unvereinbar mit ihnen, muss man dieses unverzüglich aufgeben. 2. Zum anderen kann man sich Wissen von einem vertrauenswürdigen Gelehrten aneignen. Dieser Weg ist schneller und weitaus zuverlässiger. Nach der ersten Methode könnte man einige Dinge missverstehen, mangelhaft im Wissen bleiben oder wegen anderer Gründe in die Irre gehen, ohne dieses zu merken. Wenn man jedoch von einem Gelehrten lernt, hat man die Möglichkeit sich auszutauschen und über den Unterrichtsstoff zu diskutieren. Dadurch öffnen sich mehrere Türen des Verstehens und der Überprüfung. Außerdem erlernt man die richtigen Ansichten zu rechtfertigen und die falschen Ansichten zu widerlegen. Der Schüler sollte Prioritäten setzen und Bücher lesen, welche einen Themenbereich in der Religion grob zusammenfassen, bevor er sich tiefgründiger mit einer bestimmten Angelegenheit beschäftigt. Er sollte das Niveau nicht steigern, bevor er den Unterrichtsstoff seines aktuellen Niveaus nicht gründlich studiert hat. Auf diese Weise macht man Fortschritte." Azhar Shah witnessed the horror smash at the junction of Stratford Road and Park Road, in Watford, while driving his taxi just days before Christmas 2012. The 44-year-old was overtaken by a car speeding at about 60 miles per hour through the cross roads. He saw the car crash into another vehicle crossing the junction with such force that the second car twisted around in the air and dropped down in smoke in the carriageway. With disregard for his own life, Azhar ran to help the family - freeing an eight months pregnant woman as smoke continued to escape from the car engine. He said: "A car shot past me going at 50 or 60mph. "I knew it wasn't going to stop. Another car was crossing the junction at that exact time and it smashed into it. The car hit twisted around in the air and dropped, there was smoke. "I jumped out of my car and ran towards it, smoke was coming out the engine. "One woman was eight months pregnant, it was a miracle no one was seriously hurt I was expecting there to be fatalities from the way it was hit." But when the shocked woman was safely in his taxi, sheltered from the cold, Azhar heard her screaming "my baby, where's my baby?" The child was still in the burning car. Knowing the car could explode at any time, Azhar raced back to pull out the baby from the mangled wreckage. Last week, the taxi driver from West Watford, was presented with a certificate from the High Sheriff of Greater London, who makes awards twice a year to citizens who have given outstanding service in helping the police carry out their duties, for his courageous actions and a cheque for £250. The dad-of-four said it was an honour to be recognised, but that it was human nature and instinct to help. Azhar said: "If I had thought about it, I would have thought that car could blow at any time - I need to get away from here myself. But I didn't, I just saw it was something serious and ran to help - it's human nature I guess. I think most people would have that instinct. I was just caught up in that moment. "I don't think I did anything amazing, but it's good to think I made a difference. There was a reason why I was there at that exact moment." The speeding car driver was taken to court by the police and Azhar's call to the emergency services, which had recorded a lot of what he did to help that night, was played to the judge. The judge then recommended Azhar for the award. Azhar continued: "My children are very proud of me, my wife is proud of me, although she was a bit scared something serious could have happened to me. But the people in the car needed help, so I helped." Exkurs: Die Türken Türken gibt es in Deutschland nicht erst seit der Anwerbung zu Beginn der sechziger Jahre dieses Jahrhunderts, sondern seit über 300 Jahren. Besonders nach dem Sieg über das türkische Heer im späten 17. Jahrhundert vor Wien kamen viele Türken als Kriegsgefangene nach Deutschland. Die damals gerade 10000 Einwohner zählende Stadt München beheimatete über 1000 türkische Kriegsgefangene, die im Kanalbau und an den Webstühlen als Arbeiter beschäftigt wurden. Viele kehrten nicht in ihre Heimat zurück, sondern ließen sich nieder. Viele der Kriegsgefangenen waren Kinder unter 16 Jahren, andere waren nicht unbedingt Türken, sondern entstammten der osmanischen Besatzerschicht. Nach dem Übertritt vom Islam zum Christentum - bei der Taufe waren häufig Offiziere, Edelleute, Ratsherren anwesend, und die Getauften erhielten als Namen meist die Vornamen ihrer Taufpaten - gelang nicht wenigen eine ungewöhnliche Berufskarriere, gelegentlich die Einheirat in höhere Gesellschaftskreise und die Erhebung in den Adel. Etwa 50 Jahre später wurden aus dem Bereich des Osmanischen Reiches Rotfärber ins Elsaß nach Mühlhausen und Rouen angeworben, denen man ihre Religion ließ. Auch in Preußen wurde die Glaubensfreiheit praktiziert. Friedrich der Große schrieb 1740 an den Rand einer Eingabe: " Alle Religionen sind gleich und gut, wenn nur ihre Leute, die sich zu ihnen bekennen, ehrliche Leute sind. Und wenn Türken und Heiden kämen und wollten hier im Land wohnen, dann würden wir ihnen Moscheen und Kirchen bauen." Und 1756 bekannte er einem Vertrauten: Ich bin genötigt, meine Zuflucht zu Treu und Glauben und zu der Menschlichkeit der Muselmänner zu nehmen, weil solche bei den Christen nicht mehr zu finden sind." Aus Russland stammende muslimische Tataren wurden preußische Soldaten. 1762 wurde gar in der Garnison in Goldap (Ostpreußen) ein selbständiges Bosniakenregiment eingerichtet mit einem preußischen Heeres-Imam, der "Prediger der preußischen Mohammedaner" genannt wurde. 1808 machte die muslimische Reiterei Preußens etwa 1000 Mann aus. Sie bildeten die bekannten Ulanenregimenter. Der Islam fand in Preußen eine erstaunliche Toleranz vor. Sicher aufgrund seiner Wertschätzung dieses Glaubens setzte der Philosoph Immanuel Kant das islamische Glaubensbekenntnis " Im Namen des Barmherzigen, des gütigen Gottes" über seine Königsberger Promotionskurkunde. 1732 wurde den Muslimen in Potsdam ein Saal als Moschee zur Verfügung gestellt: die erste muslimische Gottesdienststätte auf deutschem Boden. Während des Ersten Weltkrieges wurde in Wünsdorf bei Zossen in der Nähe von Berlin ein "mohammedanisches Gefangenenlager" eingerichtet, für Gefangene aus Sibirien, Indien, Marokko, Algerien und dem Senegal. Dort wurde im Juni 1914 eine Moschee eingeweiht. Für die Gefangenen gab es nicht nur mehrere Imame und Mullahs, sondern auch fünf islamische Zeitungen. Zehn Jahre später wurde in Berlin - Wilmersdorf nahe beim Fehrbelliner Platz eine Moschee eingeweiht. Die einzige Barockmoschee der Welt entstand 1785 als "Rote Moschee" im Schlosspark von Schwetzingen, wo sie zunächst nicht für Gottesdienste gedacht war." The court in the desert oasis city of Kashgar sentenced the 38-year-old #Uighur to six years, while his wife was given a two-year sentence, according to the China Youth Daily. The man "had started growing his beard in 2010″ while his wife "wore a veil hiding her face and a burqa", the paper said. The couple were found guilty of "picking quarrels and provoking trouble", a vague accusation regularly used in the Chinese judicial system. For more than a year the authorities in Xinjiang have been campaigning against men growing beards – a practice officials associate with extremist ideas. A campaign dubbed "Project Beauty" also encourages women to leave their heads bare and abandon wearing the veil, a relatively widespread practice among the Uighurs – the main Muslim ethnic group in Xinjiang. The Kashgar couple had "received several warnings" before being charged, the newspaper reported, citing local officials. "Since the beginning of the year, a certain number of people breaking the regulation on beards, veils and burqas have been prosecuted and sentenced," officials in Kashgar were quoted as saying by the paper. Kashgar authorities could not be reached for comment Sunday. Rights groups believe Beijing's repression of the Uighurs' culture and religion has fanned tensions in Xinjiang, a resource-rich region that abuts central Asia. Violence increased last year and at least 200 people were killed in a series of bombings and deadly clashes with security forces, blamed by Beijing on "separatists" and "religious extremists". In April last year authorities in Xinjiang's Shaya county offered cash to informants to report on neighbours with excessive facial hair. In August authorities in Karamay city banned people with large beards or Islamic clothing from travelling on public buses. Shocked at the jail sentence rights group said in a statement that such a case would not happen in any other country. "It is unacceptable and absurd. It exposes China's hostile attitude and crisis of governance," said spokesperson for the exile World Uyghur Congress. He added that "If a Chinese person grows a beard, it is a personal fashion he is allowed to choose freely. If a Uighur grows a beard, he is a religious extremist."
